Evergrey used to be my favourite band (before I discovered Pain of Salvation), and I've been working hard finding all their releases, even a rare single, featuring the song 'I'm sorry', and finally, my collection is complete! Though I don't like the new album very much, I bought it because it's Evergrey, You know, and the collection wouldn't be complete without it.
Which one's Your favourite?
(for the use of the 'gaffel' option, check previous 'Favourite album'-threads)
My favourite is 'Solitude • Dominance • Tragedy', because of it's dark atmosphere and progressive elements. If I may, I'll put all the other albums except 'Monday morning apocalypse' as number two, I can't choose between them.

Recreation Day for me. Possibly because I've listened to it about 10 times more than all the others (it was the first one I got). In Search of Truth would probably be my second favourtite.
I got Recreation Day ages ago, and then a few months ago decided to buy all their other albums, so I never took the time to get to know them all that well.
I guess I'll go listen to Solitude • Dominance • Tragedy when Morningrise (Opeth) finishes...

'Recreation day' was my favourite album by them for a very long time, especially the songs 'The great deceiver', 'Recreation day', 'Fragments' and 'Unforgivable' are great, but all of the others too!
The problem with 'Solitude • Dominance • Tragedy' is the mix, since it's an older album, and before Evergrey's real breakthrough (with 'In search of truth'), they didn't have enough money to record and mix it as well as the later albums, so it takes some time to get into it, and get used to the sound. But if You have that patience, the quality of the music of the album is reward enough! 'Solitude within' and 'Nosferatu' are great classics!

I'm listening to Solitude • Dominance • Tragedy now. It is very good (not sure that it's better than Recreation Day), I guess I'll give it a few listens today Do you have their DVD? I've only actually watched it once, but it's pretty good. I saw them live quite a while ago when I didn't know any of their stuff very well, and I was going to go and see them more recently, but couldn't make it. Hopefully I'll see them this summer.

Yes, I've got the DVD, and I think it's awesome, I have never seen a better recording of a live show! And the bonus material is great as well, more than six hours of old videos from the studio and from tours, it's really great (alot better than my English )! They're playing at Sweden Rock, so I'll catch them for sure!

I'm not very well known with Evergrey and only have The Inner Circle. Since I like the album a lot though, I'll vote for that one.

The inner circle sure is a good one. I bought the limited edition when it was released, great music, awesome vocals, stunning lyrics and concept!

I only have in search of truth, recreation day and the inner circle and Recreation Day is my favourite. Maybe I'll have to check out Solitude • Dominance • Tragedy.

If You do, check out The dark discovery as well, and give both old albums some time to grow on You. It's kind of hard starting with the new albums and check out the older ones later, You have to go backwards in their improvement of skill and production. But, as I said, give them both some time, and I'm sure You'll like them! After all, it's still Evergrey.

hmm, hadn't realised that they'd realesed a new album not all that long ago. Listening to Monday Morning Apocalypse for the first time at the moment, not sure if I like it...

The song 'Monday Morning Apocalypse' is the best Evergrey song I know (but I don't know that much ^^).. of course I don't know about the album..

The song 'Monday morning apocalypse' is very good live, but on the album, I think it's really bad. The mix it's bad, there's hardly any keyboards, the guitar sound is weak and there's no dual guitar what so ever. And on top of that, there's a very popy and not-Evergrey tambourine in the chorus! oO
@metal_Leper: A lot of the songs on the album are good, but are bad mixed, so You should really hear them live to get a grip on them. The mix hasn't got the darkness required to make Evergrey's sound or the concept of the songs to what it should be.

I hope to see them tomorrow at Graspop! ;D Pity they're playing at the same hour as Moonspell.. but I prefer Evergrey though ^^ and if my friends don't want to come, I'll go alone!

Yeah, You really should see them! Even the songs from the new album (which I mostly don't like very much, as stated earlier) sounds great live, it's really hard to find such an excellent live band!
By the way, I think Axamenta is playing at Graspop as well. You really should check them out!
