Too difficult to make a poll about this, so what's your top 3/5/10?
Mine: 1. Tobias Sammet (Edguy) 2. James Hetfield (Metallica) 3. Hansi Kürsch (Blind Guardian)

First three that came to mind:
1. Jon Olivia (Savatage) 2. Whatever the guy who was in Lost Horizon is called 3. King Diamond (the early Mercyful Fate stuff than his solo stuff, though that's good too...)
People like Halford, Dickinson, La Brie, Tate, etc are all amazing too, and I really like Hetfield's voice, though he's probably not that good from a technical point of view...

Personally I like Sammet, Kursch, and Michael Kiske. (In no particular order)

I wont try to make some sort of list, all names are without any particular order.
In my opinion, Daniel Gildenlöw (from Pain of Salvation) might just be the best vocalist on this little planet of ours. He can express ANY emotion with his voice with his different techniques.
Some other favorites of mine are Jørn Lande (Jorn, Masterplan, ex. Ark), Damian Wilson (ex. Threshold, Rick Wakeman), Devin Townsend (Strapping Young Lad, The Devin Townsend band), Mikael Stanne (Dark Tranquillity) and Mikael Åkerfeldt (Opeth).
By the way, Metal_leper, the guy who sung on Lost Horizon's first two albums is Daniel Heiman, a very, very talented singer with an amazing register, unfortunately he left Lost Horizon some year ago, and they still haven't found a replacement. I saw Heiman and his current band Crystal Eyes last summer at Sweden Rock Festival, and it was a disappointment indeed, very bad performance.

I'm also not a specialist in knowing bandmember names. I usually listen to the music without paying attention to WHO made it. But here's two that stand out to me. Juha Kylmänen - From For My Pain and Reflexion. And he's cute. Damn ... him and Mikko, the bassist from Reflexion make me wish I was gay. Tony Kakko - Sonata Arctica - On records he may always sound almost the same, but if you see him live he usually shows he has a much bigger range of tones he can sing. And to me live performance is still many times more important than CD performance. Anyway, Hansi and Tobias are also great, but wanted to do something else than repeat everyone else's list

I've got this photographic memory for biographies and band member names. And somehow I managed to forget about Russell Allen (Symphony X)! oO

I was actually thinking of trying out as a singer for Lost Horizon, but even if I actually could sing like Daniel Heiman, I wouldn't be cool enough to take his role as Ethereal Magnanimus.
Talking about power metal vocalists; Roy Khan (Kamelot) is a very, very good vocalist! Ralf Scheepers (Primal Fear) is a good one.

Ralf Sheepers should've been Halford's replacement in Judas Priest instead of Ripper Owens!
I've been PF once before, and I'll hopefully be seeing them again soonish...

Yes, either Ralf Scheepers or John K (Biomechanical, ex. Balance of Power), another great singer I've managed to forgot. oO

I know most people don't like him...but yes I consider James Labrie as one of my favourite metal singers....but number one would be Hansi Kürsch.
another "good" singer in terms of doing the job well would Jorn Lande

Ands loads more too......but I like the ones above the best!

neonblack: I agree James Labrie is a very, very good singer, though he is better in Ayreon's 'The human equation' and on his solo album 'Elements of persuasion' than he is in Dream Theater.
