So I play the saxophone for a very long time now and I still love it. most of you won't appreciate the sound of it perhaps but I can assure you it's a nice instrument. I can play a lot of famous songs which I am not all gonna name but I can tell you that I can play The final countdown with the guitar solo so you see if you are dedicated to it, you can play a lot of good things.

I would really like to learn to play the saxophone, it's one of my favourite instruments!
Have You heard of Solefald? Great post-black metal band! For the last two or three records, they've used great saxophone melodies in most of their songs!

Never heard of em, only bands that I know who use saxophones are Ska-punk bands.

You know of Borknagar? Also a Norweigan post-black metal band, with Swedish guy Vintersorg on vocals (who replaced ICS Vortex, when he left and joined Dimmu Borgir, he used to be both the bassplayer and singer of Borknagar). Their keyboard/piano player, Lars A. Nedland, is also one of the two founding members (and only members) of Solefald, where he plays piano, keyboards and drums, and sings all the clean vocal parts.

I manage to mess that post up pretty much.
Borknagar's keyboard player, Lars Nedland, is also the keyboard player of a band call Solefald. Solefald has on their last two or three records used great saxophone melodies in combination with their post-black/folk metal structures.
I recommend You check out the album Red for fire (an Icelandic odyssey part I) and the upcoming sequel Black for death (an Icelandic odyssey part II), that's at least one great piece of music!

I started to play the alto saxophone some years ago, but unfortunately, I'm not very talented. But it's fun, I am allowed to play in a big band.
@black Core: The final Countdown played by saxophone? Must sound unusual ...
By the way: Some of our favourite musicians used to play saxophone when they were younger: Tuomas Holopainen, Thomas Youngblood, ...
