Easy question but still interesting to hear about this from others *g*
Well, for me it really started when Ghost in the Shell, Neon Genesis Evangelion and Bubblegum Crisis were released in Europe. Maybe also with Escaflowne and Record of Lodoss War. Well, maybe not really at the exact release dates but rather in late 1998 when they showed some of this late at night on TV here in Germany...mostly this was on mondays starting from 0:00 or so but no problem for the real fans
Sure before that I also watched other japan made animation/cartoon as many of the 80s-cartoon series also were made in Japan but that doesn't really count So I could even start with stuff like Silverhawks, Thundercats and whatever else there was in the 80s...but I wouldn't really call this anime because of the rather western design...
I believe manga came before anime...or before I realized what anime really was. So I really should start with the Dragonball mangas. Guess that was what made me more and more interested in these things...maybe because I used to work for some company which had business with most german comic and manga publishers...so I got to know quite much and got to read most of it for free (though I wasn't interested in all that marvel or other "superhero"-stuff very much)
Anyway since then I'm more or less addicted, I think...I wouldn't go that far to call myself an otaku (japanese term for someone being fanatic about anything. rather a general term not only in connection with anime or video games) cause I always knew where to draw the line...
But well since then I really watched most of the "good" (well...good is relative I know^^) anime since 2000...thanks to bittorrent and DSL. There was a time when I was watching about 5-10 series at the same time and couldn't burn away that stuff fast enough...but then work became more important so this got back to "normal" a bit
I could make a really long list of stuff I like but I (somehow I have to say this at about everything I am interested in *g*) leave that for later...
So how about you? Really crazy about anime or not interested at all?
