God, most of this bands songs give me orgasmic shivers. I swear, when i get those, i know i love the band to hell and back.
Theyre a Death Metal band, i presume, and theyre kick ass at that. I dont mind if its the dude singer, or Angela Gossow, the new one, but id say Gossow has the edge.
Songs to hear: Enemy Within, We Will Rise, Dead Eyes See No Future

"Ravenous" is also a great one! But isn't it Angela who does the singing and grunts? That girl scares me out But they're a great band, pity I only know four songs of them..

At first I couldn't believe the singer was a girl I was totally sure that it was a big, scary guy who was singing lol. (And the girl looks nice... haha) Anyway, although Death Metal is not my favourite style, they're very good ^^

I think their best album is Wages of sin. They'd just got Angela in the band, and everyone was just psyched about having a girl growling for them. But when Anthems of rebellion was released, and later on Doomsday machine, everyone was used to having a girl growling, that wasn't really special anymore. Doomsday machine is a pretty good album with some nice melodies, Anthems of rebellion is an a little bit better album, but none of them are even close to Wages of sin. I really hope they'll find their way back to that great song writing again, even though they lost one of the Amott-brothers on the way.
I'm going to see them in about a month, at Sweden Rock Festival. Anyone else here going?

I've heard they're supposed to be a great live band, so I'm pretty excited about it as well.
I won't see the first thirty minutes of their set though, since I wouldn't want to skip Cloudscape for anything in the world!

Oh yeah! I'll be seeing them at Download! I love 'Enemy Within' - it's an awesome song. I love the piano bit at the beginning (I learned to play it on keyboard hehe).

I totally agree there, 'Enemy within' is a great song! I think the first five songs on 'Wages of sin' ('Enemy within', 'Burning angel', 'Heart of darkness', 'Ravenous' and 'Savage Messiah') are awesome, probably the best songs they've done.

Actually, whether You like it or not, most of the melodeath stage is somewhat commercial, though I don't think Arch Enemy is very commercial.

No, it don't. What I don't like about them have nothing to do with their commercial possibilies. But this is not a discussion for the Arch Enemy thread (I'd never thought I would be telling the admin something like this ).

I saw them at Sweden Rock Festival, and I was very disappointed, actually. There were mainly three reasons I didn't like their performance: * I miss Chris Amott. The new guy might be good, but he's not as cool as Amott. * The sound was horrible. Don't know how they managed to make the sound so bad, but it was really bad. * Angela might be a good growler, but she has never been thaught how to use a microphone. And that's one of the very basic things a live performing singer should know. So when she growls lower, You can hardly hear her at all, but when she screams, she holds the mic closer to her mouth for some reason, so You can't hear anything else than her shrieks.
I hope the DVD show doesn't suffer from all these issues.
