Seeing as the first banner has the delicious mug shot of Squall from Final Fantasy VIII (my pic is Rinoa from that same game), it would appear that there may be other Final Fantasy fans about??
Give a shout and say what your fave Final Fantasy game/character is and why!
Mine is Final Fantasy VIII because it's just brilliant! I love everything about it - there's some really funny parts in it, the characters are unique, the music is incredible, there's so many twists in the storyline and shocks, and it's just ace! (Can you tell I love Final Fantasy?)
My fave character from FFVIII would probably be either Squall or Rinoa. Squall is really funny sometimes - he just doesn't take hints at all (typical guy), is quite stubborn and likes to do things alone, but has a really sweet sensitive and loyal side. He's dependable and kicks ass! Rinoa is cute and nice but doesn't take rubbish from people - she's a fighter! And she has a dog that sometimes comes and attacks the enemy you're fighting too!

I'm an old school FF gamer really. I stopped playing FF after VII because I was not in the mood to buy a Playstation 2 and didn't bother getting it for PC. My favorite must be IV (on Super Nintendo ^-^) or VII (on PSOne) I love the old 8 bit graphics of the original SNES FF games. VII was also great though, and Cloud is a cool character IMO. I think Sephiroth is my fav character though. Don't know why. He just pwns. EDIT: Apparently I'm mistaken and VIII was still for PSOne. In that case I have NO clue why I ever got it. Probably all the bad critics that mentioned how the game changed the focus on the series and that it would lure in many new fans, but that hardcore fans of the series would be disappointed already. Yeah, I do admit I let myself be influenced by reviews now and then. Especially if they all say the same.

I really don't play any games actually, not even FF ^^ Last year I just had this period in which I was crazy about the FF art and all.. Me and two friends even nicknamed ourselves Yuna, Paine and Rikku, although we had no clue about what those characters were like or anything Actually a bit silly, I know.. At least I should've played some of it somewhere.. but no; tho that can still change of course! ^^

I've only played the first five games or something (the ones for Nes and Snes consoles), and I do like them, but I think Squaresoft has made better games, like Chrono Trigger and Bahamut Lagoon.

Me! So far I've played all parts of the FF-series. Though I just started FFI and II...maybe I'll continue some day...started with FF VII and so far this has been my favourite Final Fantasy. I also kinda liked FF8 but was annoyed by 9 quite soon. 10 was quite okay but 10 Part 2 was absolutely a rip-off...didn't even finish it. But as already mentioned. I also think that SquareEnix made better RPGs. So far the best one is Chrono Cross for me, directly followed by the rather unknown Xenogears. At the moment I am playing it's "prequels" Xenosaga Part 1 and 2 which weren't made by Square...

I haven't played the original pre-FFVII ones, probably couldn't now as it would be too hard to go back to the old-school graphics - unless they remake them like Capcom did with the old Resident Evil ones? Of course VIII was in a different 'direction' to VII - all the Final Fantasy games are different and have different features. The few things in common they have is a vaguely similar turn-based battle system, there's always some guy called Cid who's in charge of an airship of some sort, chocobos, basic magic types, e.g. fire, thunder and blizzard.... Sneltrekker - just because diehard fans may always prefer FFVII doesn't mean you should listen to what 'critics' say about a game - FFVIII has many fans and I really think you'd be missing out badly if you never played it! Hehe - I think that Sephiroth looks a little bit like Marilyn Manson - especially in Advent Children. Coral - Yuna and Rikku are from FFX and Paine appears in FFX-2 (which was slightly disappointing and a bit of an immature game, but does have some fun parts in it - and good storyline when you get past the cheesyness.....) In FFX-2 Yuna is more relaxed, carefree and confident, Rikku is still just plain crazy (they are cousins) and Paine is slightly more reserved, aloof at times but a tough, kick ass chick (she has a big sword ) I haven't played any other RPG's made by Squaresoft (or Square-enix as they are now called), apart from Kingdom Hearts which had Disney characters with Final Fantasy characters! Plain weird!

yeah, there's always some guy called Cid...if I remember correctly even in FF1 *g* oh and some guys called Wedge and Biggs after all I just didn't like FF9 all too much..somehow the entire design was a bit...well...it had something which reminded me of "Toy Story" or Disney-stuff...and I am no Disney-fan... haha, maybe that'S why I refuse to play Kingdom Hearts Concerning other Square games it's a bit difficult to get these in Europe. Chrono Cross and Xenogears for example never made it here. So there was only a JP and US release. First I had some copy of a copy of someone's original CDs...but because I played really much (and those games are almost as old as FF7) I might very soon re-burn them...or buy the originals at ebay which might get very expensive as they're really wanted by fans... Same with Shen Mue 1+2 for Dreamcast and Skies of Arcadia...there I am really lucky that I kept my DC and didn't sell those games *g*

Final Fantasy 10 is the only good one. Why? None of that ATB bullshit. I hate it. FF10 had the tactical side to it, the others seemed too much up to chance, since you couldnt get a small idea on what the enemy was up next to doing. And it had fully customizable characters, to increase difficulty or make it all plain-sailing. Best one so far. And 7 is insanely overhyped, i dont see how everyone can like it so much. Plus 10 is definetly the most difficult. First off, what about Evret? I cant remember if thats its exact name, but you fought it on the Airship at Bevelle, and it petrified everyone on its FIRST TURN. And if one person survived, they'd cure one person, and Evret would slap the other person, kill them, and leave your team with a space they cant fill. So youre down to two. Sin was annoying, especially in his 3rd form on the Airship. Damn one hit KO timers. Always hated em, but makes for a tense and gripping battle. Yunalesca, the ULTIMATE bitch. 3 forms, all of them ultra tough, AND you dont get a single break to heal up between them, never mind DURING them. And the Heretic Aeons, frustrating bastards. Especially Shiva, with her 255 speed, and even if you had that and Initiative, she'd probably still get first turn, and use Heavenly Ice or whatever it was and splat you all. And those Magus Sisters were insanely hard too. But nothing beat Penance, the giant sombrero-toting spotty baugette, and thats an ACCURATE description. He was the most annoying bugger ever. Same sort of attack as Evret, except he always got two turns in a row, so he'd petrify you all, then smash you on the next turn. Also, the final battle, how hard was that? I mean, you only had to use one Pheonix Down...*wink wink*. And NeonBlack, you are one sick puppy. If you refuse to play Kingdom Hearts just cause its Disney, what the fuck? Its hardly got that Disney touch Its 100% Square, through and through. They only used Disney as a base for thier worlds and support characters. And the games amazing anyway, i missed out ONE puppy box, and got 99.5% completition, grr. And i couldnt go back and get it, coz it gets destroyed at that point. And Sephiroth is one tough sonuvabitch, and i can bet you the Ice Titan boss will have you stumped for AGES.
